What is TEDxAvenues?
TEDxAvenues is an officially licensed TEDx event in planning located in New York City. Run by students at Avenues: The World School, this event aims to provide a meaningful platform for our community to share their ideas with each other.
TEDxAvenues plans to invite Avenues students, faculty, and parents to listen to “ideas worth spreading” on March 10th, 2022. We will most likely offer an in-person venue with decorations and food, as well as an online livestream. During the event, our production team will film all speeches, which will later be uploaded to the TEDx Youtube Channel as well as the TEDx Website.
“Through the Looking Glass”
We invite our speakers to communicate an idea, through the lens of a looking glass. This can be interpreted literally, such as with a microscope, or in a much more abstract matter. Take an idea and really examine it closely.
Since we wanted to make this event as ‘Avenues’ as possible, this idea was taken from a previous edition of Penumbra, our school’s literature magazine. Our speakers include both Avenues students and faculty, with topics ranging from comedy to small scale science and thinking like a historian.
